PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner which is equipped with a filter with a large filtering area despite of its thin shape and can effectively clean the large volume of the polluted air. SOLUTION: The air cleaner is equipped with a laterally thin and vertically long main body 1 of a case and a front section unit 2 to plug a front aperture of the main body 1 of the case. A vertically long suction aperture 18 to occupy almost all of a panel surface is opened in the front section unit 2 and a three-dimensionally structured filter 5 equipped with at least two or more filtering faces 20a is disposed at the inner surface side of the suction aperture. An outer surface of the suction aperture 18 is covered by a three-dimensionally structured suction grille 27 equipped with two or more suction apertures 30. Fan units 4 to discharge the filtered air toward the back outer surface of the main body 1 of the case are disposed at four top and bottom positions of a back wall of the main body 1 of the case facing to a projection end of the filter 5. A vertically long light source 6 is disposed in the filter 5 to excite a photocatalyst material carried by a filter element 20. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
