PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus having a rotation effective optical element, with less load for image processing, and excellent in operation response, and operability for a photographer. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: an imaging optical system having an imaging element; and the rotation effective optical element located in the imaging optical system and rotated around an axis parallel to an optical axis, thereby imparting photographic effect. In the imaging apparatus, when the rotation effective optical element is rotated, image information are intermittently obtained by the imaging element at a plurality of prescribed rotated positions.
