摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fuel consumption by enabling to continue lock-up, as much as possible, in a vehicle comprising a torque converter with a lock-up mechanism. SOLUTION: Under present vehicle driving conditions, turbine torque tTt1' at lock-up time and turbine torque tTt2' at non-lock-up time are computed (S5-S7). These are compared (S8), and when the turbines torque tTt1' at lock-up time becomes smaller than the turbines torque tTt2' at non-lock-up time, engine torque is compensated to increase side (S12, S16), and lock-up of a torque converter is made to continue (S17).
