PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more easily control timing with which power supply to a load device is started or stopped.

SOLUTION: CPU 122 acquires information indicating a longest backup time set by a user from an operation unit 123. When any anomaly is detected in input power supplied from an alternating-current power supply 101 based on input power data supplied from a power detection circuit 131, the CPU 122 causes UPS 103 to perform backup operation with the longest backup time taken as the upper limit. This invention is applicable to UPSs.
