PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To retrieve contents by simple operation input. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a main body part 2 having an almost round shape and a cover 3 formed in the almost same shape as the main body part 2, wherein the cover 3 is attached to the main body part 2 so as to be slidable. A mechanism for detecting depression is provided between the cover 3 and the main body part 2, when the cover 3 is depressed slightly from the upper part, its click operation is detected. Rotation quantity of the cover 3 for the main body part 2 is detected by a rotation sensor, or the like. Thus, the cover 3 and the main body part 2 constitute a rotation operator generating an operation input signal by rotating in the both direction of a positive direction or a negative direction and a depression operator generating an operation input signal in accordance with depression operation. A control part 13 generates a control signal in which a scale of a retrieval range is changed with a year, a month, a day, and a time unit by click operation of the cover 3, and in each case, by allotting a year, a month, a day, and a time to one rotation of the cover 3, contents data having time information in accordance with rotation quantity in the selected retrieval range is extracted.
