PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information distribution method for efficiently controlling the reduction of a replica arranged in a system. SOLUTION: A management device which is used for an information distribution system equipped with a plurality of nodes connected to each other constructing an overlay network, and configured to manage all content information is provided with a management information recording means which records management information for managing content information to be shared in the information distribution system, a confirmation request receiving means for receiving a confirmation request to confirm whether or not the content information recorded in the node devices is information to be shared by the information distribution system from the node devices, a confirmation request processing means for processing the confirmation request received by the conformation request receiving means based on the management information recorded in the management information recording means and a confirmation request processing result transmitting means for transmitting the processing result by the confirmation request processing means to the node device which has transmitted the confirmation request.
