PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display device that can reduce a reset period and drive two display lines, using a single scanning electrode, and to provide a drive method thereof. SOLUTION: The device has a plurality of first (Y-electrode 32) and second (X-electrode 31), extended in a column direction a plurality of third (A-electrodes 11) extended in a row direction perpendicular to the first and second electrodes. A plurality of display lines L1 to L2n-1 are formed between the first electrode and the second electrode, and respective discharge cells 17, 28 are defined by respective display lines and plural respective third electrodes. The device initializes the plurality of discharge cells 17, 28 in a reset period, and selects the second electrode of a first group of the second electrodes and the discharge cells 17, 28 turned on by the plurality of first display lines formed by the first electrode in a first address period. The device selects the second electrode of a second group of the second electrodes, and the discharge cells turned on by a plurality of second display lines formed by the first electrodes in a second address period.
