<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which display quality of a liquid crystal display panel is improved and visibility of a display medium disposed on the rear side of the liquid crystal display panel is enhanced. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is equipped with: the transmissive liquid crystal display panel 2 which is placed on the front face side of a variably displaying display medium 110 and is equipped with an effective display section with a plurality of display pixels arranged thereon; and a surface light source device 15 which is disposed between the liquid crystal display panel 2 and the display medium 110 and which illuminates the liquid crystal display panel 2 from the rear face side thereof, wherein the surface light source device 15 is characterized by being equipped with a light source 22 and a light guide body 21 having an opening section 21A opposite to the display medium 110 and emitting irradiation light emitted from the light source 22 to the liquid crystal display panel 2, and the light guide body 21 has a projecting and recessing pattern 21X (a rough surface) on at least a portion of an end face 21E determining the opening portion 21A. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
