PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blade drive device for a camera, which is provided with one blade and is most suitable for size reduction of the device. SOLUTION: The one shutter blade 3 rotatably attached to a shaft 1m on a base plate 1 and used to open and close an aperture part 1a is made of a synthetic resin and has a long hole 3a. A balance plate 4 rotatably attached to a shaft 1n on the base plate 1 is made of a metal and has a long hole 3a. The drive pin 12c of a driving means is fit in the long holes 3a and 4a. Accordingly, the shutter blade 3 is rotated by the drive pin 12c and is likely to bound when coming into contact with stoppers 1p and 1q. However, rotating force of the balance plate 4 suitably restrains the bound. Consequently, this makes it possible to reduce the size of the shutter blade and hence the size of a shutter device.
