PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance versatility of additional information display by enabling display of additional information, even when the additional information (attached information related to the execution of imaging) recorded substantially simultaneously with an image when imaged and recorded by means of an imaging apparatus, is played back using an apparatus other than the imaging apparatus concerned. SOLUTION: In the imaging apparatus compatible with a DVD-Video format, the image is encoded as an ordinary moving image video data. The additional information is generated so that the content thereof is indicated as a sub-picture. The above video data and the sub-picture are then multiplexed and recorded on a DVD. During the playback, sub-picture image display is overlaid with the moving image of the video data, and thus, the image display indicating the additional information content is overlaid with the imaged image.
