PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-in-oil type skin external preparation which is excellent in emulsification stability, and particularly is improved in the emulsification stability when a polar oil or a silicone oil is incorporated. SOLUTION: The water-in-oil type skin external preparation comprises a polyglycerin derivative represented by the formula (1) (wherein m+2 is an average polymerization degree of a polyglycerin and 1≤m≤4; R1is a 1-4C hydrocarbon group or a hydrogen atom; AO is a 3-4C oxyalkylene group; and n is an average addition molar number of the oxyalkylene group and 1≤m×n≤200).
