<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of reducing a productivity decrease resulting from setting up of marking, by restraining a period of image formation interruption even when carrying out post-processing. <P>SOLUTION: It is determined whether a finisher is performing a set ejection operation or not (S104). If it is performing the set ejection operation, it is determined whether the mode of the finisher has been switched or not (S106). If the mode has been switched, a determination is made whether the number of sheets subjected to image formation is within a predetermined number or not (108). If the number is within the predetermined number, marking is set up (S112). Next, it is determined whether the operation of the finisher and the setting up of making have been finished or not (S114). If they have been finished, an images is formed on paper sheet (S116), and the paper sheet is conveyed to the finisher. Subsequently, a determination is made whether an image forming job has been finished or not (S118). If it has been finished, the process ends.
