<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer so structured as to be able to perform the control with a high resolution and capable of suppressing the problem originating from a high frequency signal from an encoder using a simple constitution. <P>SOLUTION: A rotary encoder 36 is furnished with a plurality of light receiving elements 69 arranged in four arrays dislocated from one another, A, B, C, D. The rotary encoder 36 has a first output signal producing means 74, a second output signal producing means 75, a third output signal producing means 76, and a fourth output signal producing means 77, which emit the respective output signals with the period dislocated from one another on the basis of the output signals of the light receiving elements 69 belonging to the four arrays. The arrangement allows changing over according to the rotating speed of a PF motor, whether the prescribed control is conducted on the basis of the four output signals or the prescribed control is performed on the basis of two output signals. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
