<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system and its timing control method for optimizing timing in a transmitter, and for enabling stable information transmission by correct timing. <P>SOLUTION: Timing CLK for driving a phase modulator 102 of the transmitter 10 is made to be shifted by one step in accordance with indication from a timing control unit 240 of a receiver 20, and amount of clock shift and an interference result at the time are to be monitored and stored into a memory 250 in the receiver 20. The clock for driving the phase modulation of the transmitter 10 can be set to the correct timing by determining the most suitable timing from recorded data. This corresponds to compensation of group velocity variance by wavelength variance to be generated at the case of performing wavelength divided multiple transmission of a channel of an optical signal and a channel of the clock signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
