PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new tape measure equipped with a lighting device whose direction of irradiation can be changed at will. SOLUTION: This tape measure is a measure 1 whose measuring tape 3 is housed around a winding shaft 4 in a body case 2 so as to be freely wound or drawn out, and which is equipped with a lighting device 6. The lighting device 6 is composed of a rotating board 8 attached to the outside surface of the body case 2 so as to be rotatable around a pivot 7 parallel to the winding shaft 4, an illuminating lamp 10 set in the outer edge part of the rotating board 8 in such a way that an optical axis is directed to the centrifugal direction of the pivot, power source cells 11 for the lamp set on the surface of the rotating board 8, and a cover 15 which is fitted to the rotating board 8 so as to be detached or attached freely and has an operation switch 12 for switching on/off the illuminating lamp 10 on its external surface.
