PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet transporting device of simple configuration capable of reducing impact sound generated when a paper sheet is fed from a sheet tray. SOLUTION: The sheet transporting device comprises the tray whereon sheets are stacked, the first roller to transport the sheets one by one along a transport path, and a pair of second rollers to supply the sheets stacked on the tray one by one to the first roller, wherein the second rollers can move between the first and second positions, and in the first position, the sheet transporting vector defined by the tangent to the contacting position of the two second rollers with each other is directed toward the first roller, and in the second position, the sheet transporting vector defined by the second rollers is facing down to the surface of the sheets stacked on the tray.
