PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly and automatically reset a car even after an emergency stop is operated in an elevator device. SOLUTION: The elevator device 100 has a governor 50 for detecting a speed of the car 1; and an emergency stop mechanism 53 clamping a guide rail 10 and stop the car at emergency. If the car exceeds a setting limitation speed, a cam latch mechanism 54 operates the emergency stop mechanism. A drive pulley 15 is mounted to an end of a rotation shaft 14b of a roller 11e of the governor through a one-way clutch 16. Only when the car is ascended, motive power is transmitted from the rotation shaft to the drive pulley. A drive connection switching mechanism 4 for transmitting drive force only for a predetermined time after operation of the emergency stop is connected to a cam 24 of the cam latch mechanism.
