PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple medium enabling a microorganism in a test solution containing catechin to be readily, accurately and rapidly detected in high accuracy; and to provide a method for detecting the microorganism by using the medium. SOLUTION: The simple medium comprises a fibrous water-absorbing sheet containing a medium composition containing (a) an adhesive soluble in water and alcohol, (b) a gelling agent insoluble in the water and the alcohol, (c) a nutrient composition for a biomass and (d) a thiosulfate, in a dry condition, and laminated on a waterproof plate.
