A method for connecting an office machine within a firewall by using a VPN(Virtual Private Network) is provided to allow a user outside to remotely control office machines. A port forwarding unit informs a VPN server about its private IP(Internet Protocol)(S201). A firewall connects a port to enable communication between the port forwarding unit and the VPN server(S203). The VPN server assigns a fixed IP to the port forwarding unit(S205). When a request for connection is received to the VPN server through a fixed IP assigned to an external user terminal, the VPN server informs the port forwarding unit about the connection request(S207). The port forwarding unit receives the connection request from the VPN server and transfers an IP assigned to the port forwarding unit to an office machine to operate it(S209). The port forwarding unit receives a single IP according to the DHCP(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) from the VPN server and port-forwards every IP received from the VPN server to the office machine(S211).
