<p>A column (10) for liquid chromatography includes a chamber (12) adapted to receive packing medium (18). Openings (32, 36) in the chamber allow fluid to pass through it. Porous plugs (20, 22) in the chamber retain the packing medium. A piston (34) and one porous plug (22) are movable within the chamber to compress the packing medium. A fitting (40) engages the piston and is adjustably movable for moving the piston.</p> |
