METHOD FOR SEARCHING PHONE-BOOK IN PORTABLE COMMUNICATION TERMINAL

A method for searching a phone directory in a mobile communication terminal is provided to visualize information about directory application to search the phone directory, thereby enabling a user to check the volume of corresponding information and providing aesthetic sensuous satisfaction to the user through visual and spatial interaction. A method for searching a phone directory in a mobile communication terminal comprises the following steps of: grouping directory data to an initial character or numeral of a name stored in the directory data when the selection of a phone directory bubble search menu is detected and expressing the predetermined number of characters and numerals as a bubble, and arranging the bubble on a display unit(201,203); zooming-in a selected bubble when the bubble is selected, individually expressing the predetermined number of characters and numerals forming the bubble as sub-bubbles, and arranging the sub-bubbles on the zoomed-in bubble(205,207); and extracting a phone number list including characters and numerals displayed on a character input window when the input of a search key is detected and displaying the extracted phone number list on the display unit(213,215).
