In the present invention, there is disclosed an implant comprising a barrier (12) extending circumferentially within an annulus fibrosis (10) and being larger in area than the defect (16). There is also disclosed a devices for implantation into an intervertebral disk (15) including a membrane support member (2) to augment a disk (15) having a defect (16). The defect (16) in the annulus fibrosis (10) of the disk (15) can be repaired using a prosthesis such as a barrier (12). The barrier (12) can include a sealant and an enlarger. The barrier (12) can be implanted into the disk (15) using a delivery cannula, an advancer and at least one control filament to control the positioning of the barrier (12). Stiffness of the total barrier (12) reconstruction is increased by an expander (153) forming a frame of the barrier (12). The expander (153) comprises fingers (162) and a central strut (164). Openings or slots (174) can be included along the central strut (164). These slots (174) promote bending of the expander (153) and fingers (162) along a central line (176) connecting the centers of the dissecting ends (160). The purpose of the invention is to reduce adverse consequences of back injury, such as intervertebral disks injury, based on reconstruction thereof, further to increase resistance of the annulus fibrosis (10) and to enable augmentation of an intervertebral disk soft tissues in order to reduce risk of herniation thereof in the direction to nervous structures behind the intervertebral disk. |
