The supporting system, primarily for connecting panels in room partitioning systems, comprises longitudinal elements adapted to be connected side-by-side, connectors designed to project laterally from the longitudinal elements so that connectors of respective longitudinal elements are aligned with each other and linking elements 9A for linking the connectors when aligned. Attachment devices secure the connectors to holes 2B in the longitudinal elements in one of two or more positions so that the connectors of adjacent longitudinal elements can be offset to allow them to be aligned with one another. The connectors are preferably bushes through which pins that form the linking elements pass in use. Each bush is preferably shaped to conform to the shape of the longitudinal element and is connected to a longitudinal element by a U-shaped spring clip. The connectors and linking elements preferably act to form a hinge. |
