<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to automatically select a medium to be used when the user wants to communicate with another user. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Usable media by the user are registered in a media list. When a transmission using a logic number is performed, a media list of arrival designation having the priority is acquired based on the logic number in reference to the media list of an arrival user and a logic number management database for storing its attribute information in conformation to the logic number. A medium for performing the communication is determined from the usable media of the media list of arrival designation. When the determined medium has not been started, it is started, and the address of the medium of the arrival designation for the application is transmitted to the transmitter user terminal.
