607,422. Tanks. BRAITHWAITE & CO: ENGINEERS, Ltd., WHITEHEAD, G., and SYKES, J. E. Feb. 4,1946, No. 3424. Addition to 559,885. [Class 69 (i)] [Also in Group XXV] A resilient U-shaped clip, for connecting flanges of adjacent plates in the construction of tanks, has a round top 11 and limbs 13 which bear against the flanges 1 of the plates so compressing the rubber packing 2. To insert the clip over the flanges, the limbs 13 are sprung apart by tongs which engage slots 8 in the horizontal ends 7 of the limbs. At a junction of these plates a modified form of clip is used in which one of the limbs 13 is slotted symmetrically so that the clip can straddle transverse flanges. The clips may be formed from sheet spring steel or wire. In the latter case the ends 7 are bent round to form finger loops. |
