A method for controlling a system overload linked between an IP-BTS and an upper BSC is provided to enable the IP-BTS to remove a factor, increasing system overload of the upper BSC, through rejection or acceptance of a newly incoming call according to the system overload level of the upper BSC, thereby supplying a fast system overload recovery function to the BSC. A method for controlling a system overload linked between an IP-BTS(Internet Protocol-Base Transceiver Station) and an upper BSC(Base Station Control) comprises the followings: an overload level receiving unit(100); a DB(Database)(200); an overload control unit(300) which compares a stored reference level with a new level and notifies an operation terminal of corresponding data when an overload level is changed, and processes the result of call acceptance or rejection according to a DB search result related to a newly incoming call; and a call processing unit(400).
