A plasma display device and a driving method thereof are provided to enhance dark contrast of the plasma display device by forming positive wall charges on a scan electrode inside a discharge cell before initiating the discharge cell. A plasma display device includes a PDP(Plasma Display Panel,80), a data driver(82), a scan driver(83), a sustain driver(84), a timing controller(81), and a driving voltage generator(85). The timing controller receives horizontal and vertical synchronous signals and a clock signal and generates timing controller signals(CTRX,CTRY,CRTZ) for driving the respective drivers. The data driver applies a base-band voltage to address electrodes(X1~Xm) during a pre-reset period, a reset period, and a sustain period. The data driver samples and latches the data under the control of the timing controller and supplies the data to the address electrodes during an address period.
