#CMT# #/CMT# The steering wheel effort restoring mechanism, comprising a cam (4) rotated by the steering wheel (1) about its axis (AB) and a springloaded pusher (5, 6) that interacts with the cam and applies a variable effort to it according to the cam's angle of rotation, has the cam extending for a predetermined length along the line of the axis (AB) and made with a profile that varies continuously along its length. The pusher is mounted on a carriage (7) that moves parallel to the cam's axis of rotation and has its position controlled by an actuator (9) and a reversible drive system (8). #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Restoring effort to a steering wheel in a vehicle with a steerby-wire system. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The mechanism gives the vehicle driver a sensation close to that provided by a steering system with mechanical linkage between the steering wheel and road wheels. #CMT#DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS : #/CMT# The drawing shows a diagrammatic side view of the steering effort restitution system.
