An apparatus and a method for insertion of a light guiding plate for a backlight unit are provided to improve the productivity of the backlight unit, by automatically inserting the backlight unit into an insertion part such as a cold cathode fluorescent lamp cover. A body(20) has a plurality of motors connected to a control system(10), and enables tilting motion and linear motion. An attaching unit(30) is provided at one side of the body, and attaches a protective paper onto a light guiding plate(1). An absorbing unit(40) is provided at the other side of the body, and enables tilting motion with respect to the body. The absorbing unit performs the attachment or detachment of the light guiding plate. When the light guiding plate absorbed in the absorbing unit is positioned at the front of a light guiding plate inserting part, a pressurizing unit presses the light guiding plate toward the light guiding plate inserting part such that a portion of the light guiding plate is tilted together with the absorbing unit at a predetermined angle and inserted into the light guiding plate inserting part. |
