PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely erase record data on a magnetic disk in data erasure of a magnetic disk using an external magnetic field. SOLUTION: In this method for using an external erasure magnetic field generated by an external erasure magnetic field generator to erase record data on the magnetic disk housed in a magnetic disk drive 300, a first magnetic disk drive is moved in a moving state corresponding to its type in an external erasure magnetic field to erase data recorded on the magnetic disk, a second magnetic disk drive whose type is different from that of the first magnetic disk drive is moved in a moving state different from that of the first magnetic disk drive in the external erasure magnetic field to erase data recorded on the magnetic disk.
