PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust photographing conditions of a camera according to photographing environment such as luminosity or the like of a photographing area by a simple constitution and to display the properly photographed image. SOLUTION: In the camera system 1, a rear side of the vehicle is photographed by the on-vehicle rear camera 10 while switching a back mode and a rear side monitoring mode and the image is displayed on an on-vehicle display 40. The camera system 1 is provided with a mode determination part 23 for determining whether the present photographing state is the back mode or the rear side monitoring mode based on a predetermined condition; a night determination part 24 for determining whether or not the present time is night based on a predetermined condition; light measurement control parts (21, 14, 16) for light-measuring a relatively upper area in the photographing area than a light-measurement area at the back mode when the photographing state is the rear side monitoring mode at night; and a photographing condition adjustment part 17 for adjusting the photographing condition by the rear camera 10 based on the light-measurement result.
