PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for an automobile capable of accomplishing prevention of reduction of an air blowing amount and promotion of reduction of noise at a filtering position of a high density filter and having good maintenance property of the high density filter. SOLUTION: An internal air introduction port 18 and an external air introduction port 17 are provided on an internal/external air switching case 4 and an internal/external air switching door 19 for selectively introducing the internal air from the internal air introduction port 18 and the external air from the external air introduction port 17 to an air blowing passage 16 is provided. The high density filter 20 is provided on an upstream than the internal/external air switching door 18 and on the air blowing passage 16 communicated with the internal air introduction port 18 and is displaceably provided between the filtering position and a filtering release position.
