<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of compatibility between a friction modifier and an overbased detergent such as overbased calcium sulfonate, and compatibility between different overbased detergents such as between an overbased sulfonate detergent and an overbased salicylate detergent. <P>SOLUTION: The method of improving the compatibility of the overbased detergent with other additives in a lubricating oil composition is provided.
