PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a male screw component to which plating is applied for increasing the corrosion resistance of a thread portion to improve nut threading performance, and provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In the male screw component, the plating layer of a male screw ridge portion has a greater film thickness than the plating layer of a male screw valley portion. A male screw is formed by screw rolling of a round rod portion of a raw material to which plating is applied, leaving the plating layer of a required film thickness on the surface of the male screw. The manufacturing method comprises a plating treatment step of applying molten zinc plating to a steel material having the round rod portion to form the plating layer and a screw rolling step of rolling the round rod portion of the plating-layer-formed steel intermediate to form the male screw while leaving the plating layer on the surface of the male screw.
