The air cushion has two flexible foils (2, 3) made of plastic material. Electrically conductive contact elements (8) are arranged respectively in the inner sides (6, 7) of the cushion, where the contact elements are electrically conductive foils e.g. metal foils. The contact elements are so arranged that they contact each other in the deflated condition of the cushion. The contact elements are connected to an electrical conductor that is guided into the airbag.
