<p>A method of saponifying a TAC film as a protective film for polarizer production. In the method, the common rate of transferring and guiding the TAC film can be nearly doubled (e.g., increased to 40-50 m/min). Cylindrical saponifying-liquid delivery rollers (13) are disposed as guide rollers in a saponifying liquid inside a saponification tank. The saponifying-liquid delivery rollers (13) each has, in the outer periphery thereof, liquid-guide grooves (14) extending in the axial direction. Each liquid-guide groove (14) has liquid-delivery holes (15) which are arranged symmetrically with respect to the center in the axial direction and are open at intervals in the axial direction. The end wall (16) at each end in the axial direction is supported by a saponifying-liquid supply pipe (17) which extends concentrically in the roller. The saponifying liquid supplied to the inner part of the saponifying-liquid supply pipe (17) is delivered to the TAC film (10) through the liquid-delivery holes (15) via liquid-supply holes (18) formed in the pipe (17). The TAC film (10) is separated from the surface of the saponifying-liquid delivery rollers (13).</p> |
