<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly restrict energizing amount to an electric motor 15 to battery degradation, and to obtain sufficient steering assist, by improving degradation determining accuracy of a battery 50. <P>SOLUTION: When a lead-in current led in from the battery 50 to another electric load 60 is small, the lead-in current Iin led from the battery 50 in an electric power steering device 1 and battery voltage Vin at that time are repeatedly measured. From a plurality of measured data (Vin, Iin), the change amountΔV of battery voltage to changes of the lead-in current is calculated to judge degradation degree.
