PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make up the drawback that if a color original showing important keywords with red or blue letters, etc. is copied by a monochromatic copying machine, color information are lost to result in that it is impossible to discern the important keywords contained therein. SOLUTION: The apparatus recognizes color letter portions in a color original, changes the form of the color letters to the italic or bold letters, or the font type or size thereof, thereby giving a function for deciding on the color letter portions even in a monochromatic copy.
