PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speaker apparatus for providing excellent sound quality by a simple configuration. SOLUTION: A base 320 opposed to the bottom side of a cabinet 310 via a prescribed gap wherein a diaphragm faces the base 320 in an open spread state is provided with a sound absorbing member 340 of a nearly truncated shape whose surface appearance is nearly in parallel with the open and spread face of the diaphragm. Since the sound absorbing member 340 prevents the reflection of a sound wave from a speaker unit and the sound wave is propagated from a space between the diaphragm and the sound absorbing member 340 via a gap between the cabinet 310 and the base 320 in the side directions at angles of about 360 degrees, disturbance in a frequency characteristic at high frequencies can be prevented and the speaker apparatus can provide excellent sound quality. The speaker apparatus eliminates the need for an electric filter for passing a required frequency band to eliminate high frequency components, and can prevent the occurrence of a phase shift in the electric signal of sound data caused by the filter and provide a sound output with fidelity.
