PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a disk from being damaged when it is loaded and to prevent a fault from occurring in a driving system for conveying the disk by detecting the extraction of the disk without frequently using an expensive sensor or the like even when the disk is extracted while being loaded in, in a slot-in type disk drive. SOLUTION: The disk drive is provided with a slider 11 that moves straightly in a reciprocative manner in a disk loading direction L1 and a disk unloading direction L2 in a housing 1 where an opening 3 is formed, and makes the disk be loaded in the housing 1 when the slider 11 carries the disk inserted into the opening 3 to move in the disk loading direction L1. The disk drive is provided with a slide plate 7 movable in the disk conveying directions L1 and L2, a spring 72 for energizing the slide plate in the unloading direction L2, a plate moving means for moving the slide plate 7 in the loading direction L1 against the spring 72, and a switch SW2 for detecting the movement of the slide plate 7 by the plate moving means.
