PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vending machine capable of reliably managing the total number of discharged merchandise, i.e., the total number of sales. SOLUTION: The vending machine includes: two switching means for sensing the rotary operation of a handle and a component to be integrally operated with the handle, directly or indirectly detecting whether or not the prescribed part of the handle passes through mutually separated first and second positions in order during the rotation, and outputting the passage detection signals; and a processor for obtaining the total number of discharged merchandises when it is determined that the prescribed part passes through both the first and second positions in order, based on the passage detection signals outputted from the two switching means.
