PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To access subordinate directories among directories stored in a USB storage device even in the event that the cluster information of a memory in which information about the directories is written has been broken. SOLUTION: The USB storage device has an interface capable of reading cluster information about a cluster other than a cluster storing the information of a ROOT directory. By reading from the interface the cluster information storing information about arbitrary directories, the device can access the lower directories among the directories even in the event that the cluster information of the memory in which information about the directories in the USB storage device 511 is written has been broken.
