PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of preventing an image unintended by a user from being recorded on a recording medium. SOLUTION: When image data received by an IrDA transmission/reception part 405 is image data to which date data is not added though a second recording mode in which a date added to the image data is recorded together with an image based on the image data is selected by a date selection switch 55, an error warning is given to the user by performing display that a date selection LED 56 is flickered without writing the image.
