PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for estimating the state of reductions in the wall thickness of pipes and capable of precisely estimating the state (wall thickness and cross-sectional shape) of parts reduced in wall thickness. SOLUTION: The method for estimating the state of reductions in the wall thickness of the inside of pipes on the basis of stress or distortions which occur due to the pressure of a fluid flowing through the pipes comprises a step for determining stress or distortions at each location along the longitudinal direction of a pipe and/or each location along its circumferential direction on the basis of measurement results of measuring means arranged at prescribed intervals, a step for estimating the location of parts reduced in wall-thickness on the basis of a distribution of stress or distortions at each location in the pipe, and a step for substituting the stress or distortions at each location of the parts reduced in wall thickness into a stress distribution expression of elastic support beams and estimating the wall thickness at each location of the parts reduced in wall-thickness.
