PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly cope with stick and slip operation of a printing head when the printing head performs the stick and slip operation. SOLUTION: The printing apparatus is equipped with a printing head for applying printing on a medium, a motor for moving the printing head, a guide part for guiding the printing head along a specified direction, a speed detecting part for detecting the moving speed of the printing head, a judging part for judging whether the printing head performs the stick and slip operation, and a motor controlling part which forms a controlling signal based on the moving speed detected by the speed detecting part to control the motor, and when the motor is controlled so that the printing head is moved at a constant speed at a specified speed or lower along the guide part, and it is judged by the judging part that the printing head performs the stick and slip operation, an amplification factor is changed to a higher amplification factor than a specified amplification factor, to form the controlling signal amplified by the higher amplification factor.
