PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting single nucleotide polymorphism of DNA by the measurement of AC impedance. SOLUTION: The method for the detection of DNA comprises (1) the setting of a non-fixed probe DNA (B probe DNA) and a target DNA to a condition to enable hybridization and ligation on an electrode surface having fixed probe DNA (S probe DNA) and (2) the measurement of AC impedance of the electrode surface. The S probe DNA is complementary to the target DNA excluding at least the single base on the non-fixed terminal of the S probe DNA, the B probe DNA is complementary to the target DNA, and each of the S probe DNA, the B probe DNA and the target DNA has a base sequence to connect the non-fixed terminal of the S probe DNA hybridized with the target DNA to the S probe DNA terminal of the B probe DNA.
