The invention relates to an electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) for carrying out the non-destructive ultrasound test of mill products and can be used for detecting internal defects of sheets and strips made of a ferromagnetic material. The inventive EMAT comprises an external body (1), a substrate (3) provided with a concentrator (13), a magnetic system consisting of permanent magnets (11) which are oriented to each other by the same poles thereof and an inductive coil (14). Said magnetic system is arranged inside the internal body (5) which is made of a non-magnetic material. The internal body (5) is placed in the external body in such a way that it is displaceable with respect to the concentrator and is cinematically linked to a drive (15) fixed to the external body. The internal body is arrangeable in the external body in such a way that it is pivotable or translationally movable. The inventive EMAT embodiment enables it to be rapidly removable from a controllable object without the capture thereof by a magnetic field and in the case of the discharge of oxide scale accumulated on the substrate surface.
