A method of producing a beverage using Sorbus commixta Hedl., safflower seed, Ulmus davidiana Planch., Kalopanax pictus and Herba Houttuyniae is provided. The beverage has an effect of preventing cerebral apoplexy and treating arthritis. The beverage is prepared by the steps of: washing fruits of Sorbus commixta Hedl. and safflower seed, heating them with steam of 100 to 200deg.C for 10 to 30min, drying at 50 to 90deg.C for 5 to 8hr and then repeating the procedure 4 to 14 times; washing bark of Sorbus commixta Hedl., Ulmus davidiana Planch. and Kalopanax pictus, heating them with steam of 100 to 200deg.C for 20 to 40min, drying at 50 to 90deg.C for 5 to 8hr and then repeating the procedure 4 to 14 times; washing Herba Houttuyniae, heating it with steam of 100 to 200deg.C for 5 to 15min, drying at 50 to 90deg.C for 5 to 8hr and then repeating the procedure 4 to 14 times; extracting the treated raw material with 4 to 6 times the weight of water; and aging the extract in a closed space for 40 to 55hr. The treated raw material contains 20 to 40% by weight of fruit of Sorbus commixta Hedl., 10 to 30% by weight of bark of Sorbus commixta Hedl., 10 to 30% by weight of safflower seed, 5 to 15% by weight of Ulmus davidiana Planch., 5 to 15% by weight of Kalopanax pictus and 5 to 15% by weight of Herba Houttuyniae. |
