PARTIAL RESPONSE MAXIMUM LIKELIHOOD DETECTOR USING TILT ESTIMATOR

A PRML(Partial Response Maximum Likelihood) detector using a tangential tilt analyzer is provided to improve PRML detection performance by checking a tangential tilt angle and adopting optimal equalizer coefficient value and branch metric reference value which are appropriate to the tangential tilt angle. A tangential tilt analyzer uses synchronous data. A equalizer coefficient value and a branch metric reference value are stored in two ROMs(Read Only Memories), respectively. The equalizer coefficient value and the branch metric reference value are varied according to a tangential tilt angle, most suitable for a channel state and calculated in advance to be stored in the ROMs, respectively. The tangential tilt analyzer utilizes the synchronous data, repeated in each data block or in each frame, in order to analyze the tangential tilt angle.
