PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte useful as one for a lithium secondary battery or the like, excellent in chemical stability, and capable of maintaining high lithium conductivity for a long period of time. SOLUTION: [1] The electrolyte contains oxocarbonic acid and/or its derivative, and a low-molecule compound with a molecular weight of less than 1,000. [2] The oxocarbonic acid or its derivative is shown in formula (1) in the electrolyte of [1]. (In the formula, X<SP>1</SP>, X<SP>2</SP>denote -O-, -S-, or -NR'-, Z denotes -CO-, -C(S)-, -C(NR'')-, an alkylene group or an arylene group, n denotes an integer of 0 to 10, and R denotes -OH, -SH, -NHR''', an alkyl group, an aryl group, or an aralkyl group. B denotes a hydrogen atom or a monovalent metal atom.) [3] The low-molecule compound or its derivative is shown in formula (1) in the electrolyte of [1] or [2].
